Massimo told me that this was his most purchased kaleidoscope, and it's easy to see why. The oil filled object case is part of a very decorative, metalic incense holder from Tibet that is jeweled with semi-precious stones. The incense holder has Tibetan symbols of power, health and spiritual harmony depicted on the outside. The inside has precious images, one of which is seen here--but probably never to be duplicated again-which is the fun of a kaleidoscope. The chamber has semi-precious stones of amethyst, aquamarine, citrine, garnet, iolite, pink tourmaline and peridot. Wrapped around the removable cap held onto the piece with a metal chain is a mantra of compassion, "Om Mani Padone Hum" or in English, "The Jewel Under the Lotus".

The two mirror optics show an eight point star--one for each of the mantra's syllables, plus 2 representing opposing forces that create harmony, as light and darkness, day and night.

Over 10 3/4 inches long, it is 1 1/8 inch in diameter. Upon removing the cap at the end, a faceted glass piece enhances the breathtaking image. No detail is forgotten, as stones circle the turning object case. A brilliant piece indeed, and if you don't have this in your collection, you might add it before it's no longer made.
